Olivia, my granddaughter, was my source of inspiration to teach yoga. A month before her 5th birthday, Olivia passed away. She inspired me to teach yoga to children because she lived totally in the present, with no fear of the future.
My first yoga-for-children teacher was Jody Komitor, founder of Next Generation YOGA, the first children's Yoga studio in the world.
For the past 20 years, I have been a student of yoga and related bodywork, such as Alexander technique, Rolfing, Feldenkrais Method, Yoga with Weights, MELT Method, and massage.
As a certified NGY teacher of yoga for 2-7 year old children, my intention is that children feel better after doing yoga and enjoy these benefits:
Develop strong, flexible, healthy growing bodies
Increase concentration, balance and body awareness
Receive the gift of confidence and self-esteem
Spark creativity of ripe imaginations
Cultivate a peaceful, relaxed state of body and mind
Acquire the tools for stress management
Encourage peer and social interaction
Exercise self-reflection and tolerance toward so theres
Inspire Yoga in all areas of life
Have fun with anatomy, health and environmental awareness
From Olivia I learned how to appreciate the present moment. As a certified NGY Teacher for 2-7 year olds. I teach yoga to Olivia's engaging younger brother Sage and other adorable little yogis. Most recently (2021), I have become certified to teach Baptiste Yoga with Weights (Level 1, Sherri Baptiste, Trainer).
